Learn how to use our ‘Heart 2 Heart Conversations’ Prompt Cards!

What are these cards about?

The ‘Heart 2 Heart Conversations’ Prompt Cards are your gateway to meaningful connections and enriching conversations. These cards are more than just tools; they’re gateways to forging connections and building lasting bonds between people. In a world that often feels fast-paced and disconnected, each card offers an invitation to explore, share, and listen, fostering deeper relationships across various settings, whether with family, friends, work colleagues or in romantic relationships.

What is the difference between the two card decks?

Both of the Heart 2 Heart Card Decks are designed to spark meaningful conversations and deepen connection, although they serve different purposes.

  • The i4 Neuroleader™ Deck is perfect for work teams, coaches, families, friends, couples or people who just started dating. Essentially anyone looking to build trust, strengthen communication and explore personal growth together.
  • The Elephant In The Room edition is specially made for established couples ready to go deeper, with thoughtful prompts (including ones on sex and intimacy) that gently open the door to the conversations that matter most in a relationship.

Whether you’re connecting with many or just one, there’s a Heart 2 Heart deck for you!

How were these cards developed?

Developed by the founders of the About My Brain™ Institute — a family of experts in brain-based leadership, emotional intelligence, neuro-coaching, social design, and counselling — this deck is grounded in the award-winning i4 Neuroleader™ Methodology.

This evidence-based model and training program offers powerful insights into human behavior and potential, with a focus on well-being, personal growth and leadership development.

Each card serves as a catalyst for meaningful growth, guiding you and your conversation partner toward deeper understanding, emotional safety, empathy and authentic connection.

What makes these cards unique?

Both of our decks provide you with 200 ways to unlock the magic of meaningful connections. They are a great companion for creating psychological safety, deepening trust and fostering more authentic connection.

Our cards feature a QR code on the back, providing direct access to in-depth articles that explore the i4 Neuroleader™ Model’s categories, offering ongoing learning, reflection and personal development beyond the conversation. Click to see these free resources below!

The Heart 2 Heart Conversations Prompt Cards are more than just a game. They’re a journey into what it means to listen with intention, speak with vulnerability and connect with purpose. Because the most powerful conversations are the ones we’re hesitant to have.

How are the cards categorized?

In the ‘Original i4 Neuroleader™ Deck’:

In this deck, the first 128 numbered and colour-coded prompt cards correspond to the items featured in the i4 Neuroleader™ Model & Assessment, which measures attributes across 4 key competencies and 16 underpinning pillars as listed below:

  • Performance: brain and body integration, balance, ethics and mental readiness.
  • Collaboration: inspiration, communication, courage and generosity.
  • Innovation: imagination, drive, attitude and curiosity.
  • Agility: intuition, awareness, influence and adaptability.

Additionally, the deck includes 72 fun icebreakers to get the conversation started and 10 blank cards for you to create your own prompts.

In the ‘Elephant In The Room Deck’:

This deck includes 160 thoughtfully designed prompts, color- and icon-coded across 4 key competencies and 16 foundational pillars. Each card features a QR code on the back that links directly to blog articles aligned with the corresponding pillar, offering deeper insight and continued learning.

You’ll also find 40 additional cards dedicated to sex and intimacy — designed to help you connect more deeply, navigate sensitive topics, and strengthen both emotional and physical closeness.

What tips can improve the experience?

To set the scene for a meaningful session, create a comfortable and inviting environment. Choose a quiet, cozy space without distractions, and consider soft lighting and comfortable seating arrangements. Setting clear intentions for empathy, active listening, and respect will enhance the conversation, making it more enriching and impactful.

When should I scan the QR code?

As you play, put each drawn card into your pile. To avoid interruptions and maintain the flow of conversation, we suggest scanning the codes at the end of the session for follow-up learning. You can return to this page at any time and use the search bar below to find the articles you need.

What are the steps of the game?

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to using the cards:

  1. Create a safe space:
Create a distraction-free space and set intentions for the session.

  2. Choose a Card:
Select a color that resonates with you, or randomly pick one from the deck. Place the drawn cards in your own pile.

  3. Reflect and Share:
Take a moment to think about the question, then share your thoughts.

  4. Listen Actively:
Give your full attention to the speaker and respond with empathy.

  5. Discuss:
Dive deeper into the topic with your own follow-up questions.

  6. Explore Further:
At the end of the session, scan the QR codes from your pile to learn more about developing the attribute, pillar, and competency you drew.
Are there any variations on how to use the cards?

Yes! A popular variation is to categorize the cards by color, corresponding to the four competencies of the i4 Neuroleader™ Model:

  • Performance
  • Collaboration
  • Innovation
  • Agility

Engage in four rounds, each focused on a different competency, to systematically explore essential concepts and examine diverse facets of each competency and corresponding pillar.

Can these cards be used in a group setting?

Absolutely! The ‘Heart 2 Heart’ Cards are ideal for 2 people and also for groups of 3-12 participants.

Here’s how to use them in a group setting:

  1. Designate a Game Master:
One person acts as the Game Master, guiding the session and ensuring everyone has a chance to participate.

  2. Distribute Cards:
The Game Master distributes one card to each participant.

  3. Sequential Sharing:
Each participant sequentially unveils the question on their card and provides their response.

  4. Active Listening and Discussion:
Participants actively listen, acknowledge each response, and may ask one relevant follow-up question to deepen their understanding. The Game Master ensures smooth facilitation.

  5. Rotate the Game Master:
The Game Master role rotates clockwise, with the new Game Master shuffling the cards and initiating Step 2 again. Continue playing until each participant has assumed the role of Game Master and has had the opportunity to share once or twice.
How can these cards be used with the i4 Neuroleader™ Assessment?

Even if you haven’t taken the assessment, the cards provide a fun and enlightening way to explore various aspects of yourself and others, making them versatile tools for fostering meaningful connections.
